I have also built many commissions for churches and places of worship. Many of these were completed while employed with The Stained Glass Workshop in Fargo, ND, and a number were completed since. Many of these examples are but one or two windows of much larger, multi-window commissions for entire sanctuaries. Occasionally requiring us to lift large windows high up on scaffolding, sometimes the installations were as challenging as building the windows themselves.
One phenomenon I find interesting with church work is that a donor will come forward and commission a single window. Usually within weeks of the first window going in, the congregation has raised funds to complete the remaining windows in a sanctuary.
